We had a terrific rain last night. The stuff I planted yesterday is looking really happy. But today Louisette liked to work on drying the bronze fennel. It is great as a spice but also as a tea. So I took a crate and my clippers and cut what was there.
I took some of the plants and cut them off completely but most I left the smaller bottom shoots, that way we still have fresh leaves that we can use and I hope they will keep on growing for a second harvest.
When I was carrying in this crate you could really smell the beautiful aroma that came out of the bunch, almost intoxicating. Now Louisette will strip them and put the leaves in the dryer. The whole house will smell of this beautiful herb.
