Cutting back the Hibiscus

Writer's picture: Louisette and PeterLouisette and Peter

The days are getting longer now, so we can start thinking of cutting back the Hibiscus. They can sprout out and start to grow for the next season. If we let them just grow, they will become leggy.

As you can see you can cut them back to the old wood and they will sprout out. It will take about three month before you see the first flowers to show up, so that brings us to May the time they can go outside again.

This also goes for the other tropical plants like Bougainvillea and Oleander.
