We had a good harvest of beans today. The last of the flat beans. I hope they will start growing again so we get a few in late September. For that to happen we will need some good rains. Lots of pole beans, they are also in need of some rain they felt a little soft. But they filled most of the pail. In the bottom we still have some yellow and green beans enough for a meal or two but too little to freeze.
The tomatoes are starting to come, we had some nice beefsteak, a few Roma’s and lots of cherries. They will go in the freezer and when most of the work is done Louisette will start to make soups and sauces. Also with these, you can see that it is very dry, they could be a little bigger. Because of the harsher growing conditions they will be fuller of nutrition so it will be a good year for us.
