Planting again

Writer's picture: Louisette and PeterLouisette and Peter

Some of the plugs we had in the greenhouse were ready for transplanting. We had fennel and two different lettuces, Red Mist, Grand Rapids and endive Perlita. The fennel is for the bulbs as a vegetable but we will use some of the leaves in the salad it gives a lot of interesting flavor. The lettuces we will pick the leaves and let the plants grow this way we will have lettuce for 6 to 8 weeks.

I also dug out a pea plant to show, that although on the top you don’t see much happening down in the soil they are making strong roots and that will give us the strong grows that we want as soon as the weather improves.

The last picture is of a plug tray of pepper grass that we seeded 2 days ago. The seed has germinated and is on the go. The radishes are also sprouting. It is important to seed fast germinating seeds in one tray so you can plant them out at the same time. All the other seeds that were sown don’t show any ting yet.
