I will explain how and why I seed my beans early. Most of the times you seed beans direct in warm soil outside. Here that would be the middle of June. You add 54 days to that and you have your first beans in the middle of August. Now when I seed in the middle of May we can expect our first beans by the middle of July.
I start with a plug tray with fairly large holes and fill it loosely with a good compost or potting mix. I lay out my seeds evenly spread out. Then I press each seed in the soil. About ½ “or 1 cm and cover them with soil. Once the tray is seeded I soak it with water and put it in a warm location.
I seeded three different verities in the same tray so make sure you mark them so you know what is what.
