Today I planted Swiss chard in the cold frame and outside. I hope that the cold frame is a little warmer so there we can start harvesting a little earlier. I showed you a plug and you can see it is a little stretched. I planted them nice and deep so they don’t flop around.
I also had green cabbage and cauliflower here to when they are tall just plant them nice and deep they will stand much stronger in the garden. With the brassicas you have the problem of a little fly that lay its eggs near the base of the plant and the small larva that comes out is going to feed on the roots and the plants wilt and dies. That is why I put fleece over the plant. Now the fly cannot reach the soil and the plants get a good start once big enough they will survive. This fleece will be on the plants until they are quite large. The bonus for the plants now is that it is also protection from the elements it is still early and the nights are cold.
Here is the tray of pepper grass and radishes they are in the cold frame and did not stretch any more by next week I should be able to plant them outside.
