I had sprayed a tree only on the top and the deer were eating at the bottom, so when you spray you will have to do the whole tree. I also had some gold thread mops that I did not know if they were deer resisted, and no they are not. The deer chewed on them, so I gave them a spry. They are not too badly damaged and will grow back next spring and summer no problem.
Today we had a group of 8 deer walking through the garden and they left all the plants alone that were sprayed yesterday, so it works.
It is very nice to see them walking in the garden while we are having lunch.
